Project Noah Nature School
Roughly 2 inches long, head to abdomen. Brown mottled wings and bright reed hindwings, possibly with black
probably Catocala semirelicta
It does! http://mothphotographersgroup.msstate.ed...I also checked on butterfliesandmoths.org & it is listed for Oregon http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/speci... They currently only have one sighting in their database so it seems quite rare!
That is a possibility. I"ll have to do some more digging and see if irene has the striped legs.
Catocala irene? http://www.silkmoths.bizland.com/catiren... I love underwing moths - so drab when resting but with their wonderfully bright petticoats!
