Common Whitetail

Plathemis lydia

Description:

Common dragonfly in North America. Striking appearance. Spotted it at the edge of the woods next to a field. First four photos show a male, general and closer views. The last photo shows another dragonfly that was flitting about with my fellow ... not as clear, but I think it's the female?

Notes:

Also found references to another scientific name, Libellula lydia.

Catching up. The last pic in this series is not as good as the others ... but I thought it might be the female?
