Wonderful sweet- tasting fruit. Very thirst quenching. I slice up star-shaped pieces and eat with yogurt & walnuts in the morning.

Ceherzog, carambolas I know are very sour unless they are very ripe. Like lemons... Is this one like that?

Never heard of this fruit! Do you think it would be available at a NoVA grocery store? Unrelated question (related only by the word "fruit"): I took some photos of Trumpet vine fruit; I'm wondering whether the seed pods are ripe for picking. How can I send you some photos? wsanford@wsanford.com

Yes they are. The cultivar is called Fwang Tung and it has great sweet taste and is very prolific.
