Basswood

Tilia americana

Description:

The leaves can grow up to 25cm (10"). Tilia americana is a medium-sized to large deciduous tree reaching a height of 60 to 120 ft (exceptionally 129 ft) with a trunk diameter of 3-4 ft at maturity.

Habitat:

eastern US and southern Canada

Notes:

I spotted this growing along the Bruce Trail in Jordan. There were only a few of these trees around. They have the largest single leaf I've ever seen on a deciduous tree in my area.
