Silk Floss tree

Chorisia (Ceiba) speciosa

Description:

Large lavender flowers with a whitish center and long stamen. Blooms in October. Trunk is not one to lean against because it has large projections like rough thorns. Blossoms tend to be messy when they fall. But I had it planted about 11 years ago in hopes of attracting parrots.

Habitat:

Tropical or semi-tropical climate is needed.

Notes:

It is planted at Jacaranda Trace outside my Moon Garden at our former home here in Venice. I want to Thank Ashish for putting up a picture that reminded me to visit the Bombax tree
