Cassytha filiformis
Leafless parasitic vine with medicinal properties. Indigenous in Hawai`i. Used to treat cancer and to ease childbirth. Considered a problematic weed by those who are unaware of its value. Photo shows flower buds.
This spotting occurred in nonnative lowland mesic forest. Associated plants were Dioclea wilsonii, Nephrolepis falcata, Melinis minutiflora.
Tried to add photos to spotting with mobile app on my iphone but it would not work.
