Monarch chrysalis

Danaus plexippus

Description:

Green chrysalis with yellow-and-black edge. Found attached to a bunchgrass stalk.

Habitat:

Pollinator garden at Penn State Arboretum. This bunchgrass was next to a planting of milkweed (Asclepias sp.), presumably where the caterpillar was feeding before pupating.
