Blue Wildebeest

Connochaeates taurinus

Description:

This ox-like animal is a dark grey-brown with darker vertical stripes on the neck and flank. the face, mane, beard, throat hairs and horse-like tail are black. The calf has a slight reddish-brown colour and short erect horns.

Habitat:

Open bush veld with plenty of shortish grass and sufficient water.

Notes:

The calf is 2 - 3 days old. Also known as Brindle Gnu
