In the north end of Los Angeles where i grew up '46 - '64 ~ i could catch a different horny toad every day, and i did. i soooooo miss them... it lasted till all the orchards became parking lots.
Here in Montana there is a variety i have yet to catch but i shall come Summer 2012... i'll settle for the bunch of Great Plains Toads in my back yard!!!

In West Texas we can walk outside and find a similar horned lizard.
