Golden Crowned Flying Fox

Description:

Also known as the Golden-capped fruit bat, is a rare megabat and considered the largest known bat in the world. The species is endangered and is currently facing the possibility of extinction because of poaching and forest destruction. They are endemic to the rainforests of the Philippines. Notes:

This pup fell off from its roost and has stayed at our facility (Philippine Eagle Center) for two weeks before finally taking flight a day ago. The Malagos Watershed in Davao City, Philippines serves as one of the refuges of this large fruit bats.
