Grass Spider

Agelenopsis sp.

Description:

I caught this spider wrapping up a stink bug on a tree in my backyard.

Habitat:

urban, city edge

Notes:

I spotted this spider in my backyard. It was perfect timing as it just started to wrap up a stink bug. It kept moving fast, going in circles around it, weaving it's silk. It was hard to photograph.

Nice shots! Looking at the the eye arrangement and spinnerettes of this spider makes me think it is a Funnel Web Spider, Family Agelenidae. Possible Genus Agelenopsis, a Grass Spider. http://bugguide.net/node/view/2001/bgima...
