Pineappleweed

Matricaria matricarioides

Description:

Pine-apple scented annual. 5-40cm tall. Leaves divided 1-3 times into short narrow segments. Few to many yellowish cone-shaped flower heads. Disk flowers only. Fruits: Achenes.

Habitat:

Introduced weed on disturbed/compacted soils and roadsides.

Notes:

Pineappleweed tea (flowers only is pleasant because stem and leaves are bitter) is calming and also very good at bedtime. Can be mixed with Labrador tea leaves. After cleaning fish, try rubbing your hands with fresh pineappleweed to remove stink.
