Thanks! I just used a 1977 Audubon field guide to identify so I'm not surprised it's a bit outdated!

Nice pics! The rufous-sided towhee was actually split recently into the Eastern and spotted towhees. With its location and extensive spotting on the front of its wings, this bird is actually a spotted towhee (Pipilo maculatus)
