Stagmomantis carolina
The Carolina mantis is a praying mantis that is one of six Stagmomantis species found in North America. The Carolina mantis has a dusty brown, gray, or green color useful as camouflage in certain environments.
Mantids are usually found on plants that have other insects around. Some mantids live in grass.
Hi albear1960! I really like this series! However, I am certain that what you have here are Carolina Mantis. The first two are a nymph (I believe it's a female green phase), the third is an adult female (brown phase) and the fourth is an adult male.
It's nice to see these guys instead of Mantis religiosa because the Carolina Mantis is a native species while Mantis religiosa is introduced.
