It's a common mistake, both look very much alike, with just the small differences I pointed out

It is NOT a dandelion. Dandelion seed heads are more transparent and you can see the branches on each seed tuft, as well as the seeds in the middle. They also do not have multiple flower heads as this so obviously has. See the pictures on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taraxacum of both dandelion and hawksbeard for comparison
