Harvestmen

Description:

A Daddy long legs a.k.a. Harvestman a.k.a. Opiliones. This Sclerosomatidae species is common but I still can't identify it yet. Harvestmen normally have 8 legs but this species usually have 7 legs only. I'm not sure of this 7-legs phenomenon. It has a grayish blue central body, orange pedipalps, orange long thin legs and black marks at it's leg joints. It's front 2 legs act as antennas, always lifted high and active to examine it's surrounding.

Habitat:

On short leafy plants. Under shadows in the forest, seldom exposed to sunlight. Found in Poring Hot Springs Forest Reserves, Ranau, Sabah, Malaysia.

Notes:

while my family was enjoying the hot and warm spring water, I went to venture the forest of Ranau Hot Springs hoping I would find some interesting arthropods. Sure enough, I found a few interesting and bizarre ones. This is one of my best photographs in Ranau Hot Springs. I have to use flash because the jungle there is shadowy. I managed to take this (quite clear) photograph even though it is active and wont stop for my camera. >>>Map accuracy : 1km radius.
