The two large eyespots distinguish this as an American Lady - Vanessa virginiensis. Painted lady has four smaller eyespots. Being at the edge of the American Lady's range, I am very envious. I carefully inspect every Lady I see but they are always Painted Ladies. Excellent spotting.
