Description:

Spending time with Mountain Gorillas is the ultimate wildlife experience. These gentle animals are critically endangered with a population of less than 1,000. None survive in captivity. They can be seen in Uganda, Rwanda and DRC - if you ever get a chance to see them, go for it, its a humbling and life changing experience!

Lovely Adam, I also saw these beautiful animals in Uganda. Please consider adding your Rwanda photos to the mission East African Biodiversity. I altered the map a bit to include more of Rwanda.

I've done the trek in Bwindi 3 times and was not so lucky to get a photo of the silverback out in the open like this. We always seem to find them when they were in quite thick bush so I only got some good shots of a couple young ones. Very nice !!!

They are absolutely gorgeous animals & it is a tragedy they are endangered. I envy you getting a chance to observe them so closely in the wild! It must have been an amazing experience.

Hi - this individual is Ubumwe who is the leader of the 17-strong Amahoro family. He is an amazingly huge male but at the same time was very playful with younger animals and in particular the small babies in his group. You can see how powerful he is but at the same time very gentle.

Very nice spotting Adam! I have done Gorilla trekking as well in Uganda and you're are totally right. It is an unforgettable experience.
