Polar Bear

Ursus maritimus

Description:

For the four months leading to 23rd August, Spitsbergen is basked in 24-hours of Arctic sunlight. I weas fortunate to observe this Polar Bear moving across the pack-ice in the soft glow of this first sunset, a melancholy reminder that these bears are heading into the dark night of extinction.

Habitat:

Pack ice and tundra

It's sad, indeed. Great bears.
