Garter Snake

Thamnophis elegans

Description:

Our garter snake in the PNW has just a fine line of red down its side. They love to bask in the sun on the trails at one of my favourite parks - Minnekhada.

Notes:

Although some races are endangered, the garter snake is one of the most common snakes in North America.
