Glaucidium radiatum
Roughly the size of a Myna, dark brown above and barred with pale rufous. Underparts rufous and white with blackish brown. Usually a nocturnal bird but seen frequently moving in the daylight too. Feeds mainly on beetles and other insects. The nest is usually a unlined nest in a natural tree hollow.
Usually seen around racket tailed drongo in forests of teak and bamboo. Seen at Kanha National Park.

GReat spotting!
This is a beautiful photo!
Thanks Sandra and Emma. Emma, they are very pretty and I've marked that they are not that shy when in the forests. Recently my son made me read that they are not nocturnal cause they cannot see in the day, they have adapted to hunting at night so that they are not bothered by other birds like crows. And I always felt that they cannot see in the day.
My impression is ,that these owlets are not as shy and elusive as the owls found in California. They are extremely cute!
