Description:

About 15 black vultures were spotted in a single tree above a white-tailed deer carcass.

Habitat:

Inhabits relatively open areas which provide scattered forests or shrublands.

Notes:

This bird locates food by sight or by following turkey vultures (Cathartes aura) who can locate carcasses by smell, which is uncommon in the avian world.
