Rattlesnake Plantain

Goodyera oblongifolia

Habitat:

This orchid is a native to Washington state. The distribution is from the Cascades and coastal mountains from southern Alaska to northern California, northern and central Sierra Nevada and eastern North America. You can find the Menzies' Rattlesnake Plantain along the trail to Comet Falls on Mount Rainier.

Height: 12 - 18 inches Flower Size: 5 - 10 mm Blooms: June to September

no, unfortunately some uneducated person either dug it up or let their dog do it's business on it as I have not seen it again.

I was inspired by your posting to post one found at Port Orford, quite a bit south. It's certainly a bit different, but I'm thinking it's the same species. Have you seen your bloom?
