marylou: Permit conditions in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa
it is in a sanctuary/reptile park, hence the category being "pet"
Leopard Tortoises are not naturally found in this area.

it's a silly rule made by some idiots who want to be known for a random theory on bloodlines (or other research)...
eventually people like these will be responsible for extinctions!

Law and permit conditions where? I am very upset to hear this... could you give me some more info? Is this not a wild turtle in its natural range?

How sad - I would have thought captive breeding would help prevent people capturing wild tortoises for the pet trade.

marylou: unfortunately there will be no babies, according to the law and permit conditions all captive Testudine eggs have to be destroyed.
Very sad! i would love to incubate and hatch a clutch of tortoises.

Most mothers tell their kids to stay out of the mud... this mother pee's just to make mud to play in!
