Ravenel's stinkhorn

Phallus ravenelii

Description:

Mushroom with a thick, long, off white stalk, and an olive-grey cap that was not like an umbrella. Emerged out of a pale pink volva.

Habitat:

Woody area in a bed of pine needles, mulch, dried leaves and wood chips. Grew after a rain.

Notes:

There were about 4 or 5 at the base of a tree. I saw some empty volvae and one of the mushrooms was without a cap.
