Black Racer

Coluber constrictor

Habitat:

I caught him when I saw him from my 2nd floor balcony. Behind my building is a thick wooded swampy area,so I released it there. I didnt want it to get further into the apt. complex & get run over or killed by an ignorant person. Funny thing was when I released it & started taking pictures, it came back @ me verry agressively.

Notes:

Another of the Black Racer I caught & released. This is the same snake as previously posted. I just didnt know I could have have multiple pix in the same post.

That's a nice spotting. You are building up a good collection of spottings here on Project Noah. As you've identified the snake as a black racer why not complete the spotting by filling in the Scientific name and adding a reference link (or more)? That allows us to consider it identified and makes it more usable by the wider community, including researchers. In this case, the scientific name is Coluber constrictor. A good reference I found is http://www.uga.edu/srelherp/snakes/colco... . It is also very helpful to the community to add in notes on the habitat where you spotted it, and any other information you might have (in description and notes). OK thanks and keep 'em coming!
