Silver Thistle with Bumblebee

Carlina acaulis

Description:

Sharp beige flower with dark "petals", pointed leaves, short stem

Habitat:

Pastures, between rocks, in mountains, on hills, everywhere high, Alps

Notes:

This is alpine rose. When it's open it means that it's going to be sun, when it's closed it means it's going to rain. This is a good sign for you when you're in the mountains to know what the wheather is going to be like. In Slovenia it is called "bodeca neza".
