Widow Skimmer Dragonfly

Libellula luctuosa

My first insect photo ever of this beautiful golden dragonfly from a short distance. Only photo I have, it flew away quickly. Possibly some type of Meadowhawk Dragonfly (Skimmer type) small - medium in size. Conclusion: Thanks Karen L. - Widow Skimmer (female)

Meadow property in the Poconos.

Great first insect photo - they are not the easiest to shoot!
I love watching dragonflies - we are building a pond in the spring so hopefully we will attract a few into our yard!
