Euphaedra neophron
This butterfly from the Nymphalidae family has a golden band near the tip of each forewing and striking iridescent violet to electric blue colours depending on the specimen. Located exclusively to East and South Africa.
Forested areas. Spotted here in the Jozani-Chwaka Bay National Park, Unguja Island, Zanzibar.
This butterfly prefers to feed on rotting fruit. Adults are found all year round, with a peak from February to July. The iridescence is not caused by pigments but by light scattering due to the micro-structure of the scales. Euphaedra is a diverse genus of showy African forest butterflies, containing about 190 species.

Thank you matimar1! Greetings to you too!
If anyone see the end of underwing close to vented portion is not like a Oak-leaf butterfly which is like a short peduncle of a torn leaf. In this butterfly underwing shape is different.
Thank you danielepralong!
Hello u1151994! This is an African butterfly. The Orange Oakleaf is found in Asia only. They both belong to the Nymphalidae family.
Is it orange oakleaf ?

If you erase your location bayucca you'll find out about a whole range of new local missions, some of which you may want to join!
This is obviously the reason why I couldn't see the blue group, I am out of range.
I just talked to Marta. I am going to talk to Jonathan Sequiera and Juan DiTrani as well. Maybe if we all sent Peter a little note it will nudge him enough to make the mission global. Thank you so much for supporting the mission!
Thanks for the invite IgCostaNut, I'll join your mission! I actually also have some blue tanagers from Costa Rica. If you want your mission to become global you should let Peter know (peter@projectnoah.org). Even though anyone can add to your mission if given the right link to join it, local missions remain invisible to users unless they're located within the radius (a way around this is to erase one's location from the location search when looking at the list of local missions; you can then see all local missions worldwide).
Hi Daniele, today I created a mission for the color blue. Although new missions are only allowed to have a 300 mile radius (Costa Rica) the intent is global. Can you join the mission and add your blue spottings? Thanks!!!
u r welcome
Thank you Pulkit!
beautiful colors !
Thanks Viv!
: ) Never mind Daniele, with me it's usually the other way round!
