Thanks Clement, I can see where you're coming from with that. I've just heard from a botanist friend who used to live in Japan, that this is Shoujou-bakama, otherwise known as Heloniopsis orientalis. It must have gone through some post pollination colour change.

based on the shape of the flower, i think its a type of wild onion
