A male carpenter bee - in this species the males have a whitish clypeus (lower front of face). They're pretty docile and the males can't sting (no sting apparatus), so my daughter likes to hold them. :)

I have the same type. It is real large. I will be interested to know what it actually is. Cool! A bumblebee?
