white-lipped tree frog

Litoria infrafrenata

Description:

Also known as the Giant Tree Frog, Litoria infrafrenata is the world's largest tree frog. This species is native to the rainforests of northern Queensland, Australia, New Guinea, the Bismarck Islands and the Admiralty Islands. This frog is nocturnal.

Habitat:

Observed amidst ornamental vegetation (perched here on Dracaena surculosa) in a semi-urban environment of houses and gardens, not far from a disturbed patch of remnant of forest.

Notes:

My wife told me there was a "red-throated" frog outside. That sounded like "new spotting" to me, so I grabbed my camera. The flash revealed that the frog was sporting neckwear, a bract of Bougainvillea!

I love this frog, Scott! Definitely deserving of a Spotting of the Day!
