Fiddler beetle
Eupoecila australasiae
Description:
This pretty cetonid beetle has bright markings resembling a violin. They make cocoons from soil or bark. I found these cocoons and look what emerged!

Thank you LarsKorb
very nice, Martin
Thanks ramyavajapeyam and Francis. most scarabs as grubs eat wood or roots and pupate without a cocoon on the ground or under bark. you seldom see them until they're adult.
What an exciting spotting!
Thanks for your comments Ashish, Karen and Scott.
Perfect shots martin... I started loving these poor guys after joining Project Noah... They are true Angels on the Earth.
Really cool!
Great series
This is a cetonid scarab. These can launch in a fraction of a second by opening the elytra a fraction and wings slide out the side. They're gone!!!
Now that's a beautiful beetle! Just wow, amazing. I've been researching scarab beetles more lately, there is a lot of variety to find.
Thank you. I found 10 cocoons. Seven emerged. I opened one to find a live fully formed beetle and left two to emerge in their own good time.
Nice!
Awesome. Its great. Thanks
This is so interesting - thank you so much for sharing.
Thanks for your comment. This emerged this morning after watching the cocoons for about two months! I have found about six cocoons and two have emerged. See in "related spottings" another person has found one that is green instead of yellow. They are very variable.
That is just so amazing and a really fantastic find. Awesome! Beautiful coloring.
