Lady Bug

Description:

Ladybugs, ladybirds, or lady beetles Red, black spotted dome shell, short legs, antennae. White spots on either side of the head.

Habitat:

Many-but here it was in our front driveway.

Notes:

We learned a lot of neat things about Lady Bugs-especially that they can secrete a yucky substance from their legs so they are not so tasty to their predators, and that their scientific name resembles their french name, "coccinelle."
