Glaucomys volans
We often hear noises in the attic and the basement walls of our house, which is located within a mature oak forest. This little guy apparently found his way into the basement via some unfinished passageways. After a few photographs, he took a leap through an open door and disappeared into the night.

Yeah, I guess you have to be out actively looking for them. At least you've gotten to see them fly elsewhere. I have too but only a couple time and not in Canada.
I have not seen them flying here (I have a few time elsewhere) but I have heard them calling at night. They are primarily nocturnal, so seeing them fly is an uncommon event.
Awesome! Do you ever see them flying?
Thanks for including the story. My brother has them living in the attic of his farmhouse in Indiana.
How adorable!
