Gray Wolf

Canis lupus

Description:

Early in the morning we spotted this male walking along the hillside in Lamar Valley. We were able to watch him for about an hour before he decided there wasn't any breakfast and went somewhere else.

Habitat:

Sage brush

Notes:

This male was wearing a radio collar, but according the the ranger conducting radio-telemetry, the battery must have been dead because he was not producing a "ping."
