Fakahatchee Grass

Tripsacum dactyloides

Description:

4 to 6 foot tall clump grass.

Habitat:

A native Floria grass found on wet sites around the state. Commonly sold and used as a landscape plant.

Notes:

Is a larval food plant of the Byssus Skipper butterfly. I have observed and photographed many species of insects, spiders, amphibians and reptiles in this clump. Many of which I have not been able to get decent photos of. My i phone often won't focus. I go by at least twice a day to see what's there.
