Cinnamon Ground Dove

Description:

vaguely resembles a female Blue Ground Dove but the wing pattern looks wrong and the tail is way too short, also that is not an Asian species.

Actually it was you who gave me the clue...Ground Dove. I just checked what ground doves the Newquay zoo has and matched this picture (the first one now is a beauty!) with the photos on Wikipedia; the Cinnamon Ground Dove picture matched. :)

Just found two more pictures so added the name and rearranged the order.

Thanks, Sukanya, I would agree with you, I do not have a book covering Indonesia and New Guinea and my visits to Sumatra and Java did not include any birding and were 35-45 years ago! Did not photo all the data sheets in the zoo and have not got around to the pictures from a second visit a couple of days later as the grandchildren requested to go again.

Looks a bit like cinnamon ground dove (Gallicolumba rufigula) to my eyes.
