I don't know whether he was in season or not, and yes, you nailed it ~ it did feel like a loss. I've been fortunate enough to have seen two moose but both times I didn't have my camera..argh! I frequently haunt the swamps & ponds around here in hopes of photographing one, but so far no luck. I haven't given up though.

It is a hard time of year... western Conn. yup I come from Western Vt. hunting is "serious" business. Was the moose "in season"? So sorry for your loss and it does feel like one.

Yes we do, and I also live in an area where hunting laws are viewed as more of just a suggestion. Case in point ~ one of my neighbors shot a collared moose. He brought the collar home along with the animal, and was surprised when he heard knocking on his door. Not the sharpest tool in the shed. I was so sad, I've been trying to photograph a moose for years now.

Has a lot to learn.... glad the mom took off. Do you have combined Doe and Buck seasons?

Ha! That fawn had quite the itchy foot, and also a very nonchalant attitude. After taking some pics, I hooted and hollered to scare it away from me and the road (hunting season is upon us, and I live in the boonies), momma took off but the fawn merely sauntered into the woods.
