Spectacled Bear

Tremarctos ornatus

Description:

The real owners of the reserve. Some of our resident bears caught on the camera traps. You have to be unbelievably lucky to see one in the flesh, but often we see them on the cameras following only a few minutes behind our visitors. Stars of the reserve.

Habitat:

Cloud Forest Reserve at Santa Lucia, Pichincha, Ecuador. 1920m, up trees and on the ground, near rivers and on the ridges. They're the real owners of the reserve.
