Golden Eagle

Aquila chrysaetos

Description:

Near the limits of Elephant Mountain Wildlife Management Area south of Alpine, Texas, a mated pair of Golden Eagles was nesting. While driving up from Big Bend National Park I slowed down to look for them, knowing they might be around. Sure enough I saw the pair. This was the only Good picture I was able to get with the camera I had at the time. They are HUGE!

Habitat:

Desert scrubby creosote and high rocky outcrops.

Cool that you were able to share this spotting with us all those years later! You could add this to the mission on raptors of North America: http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/8627...
