hi julie, after finding so much new specimen (what you already know) for my other page, would i suggest for this one the "stemonitis" family.

I've been looking at your references Alex and I think several of my recent spottings fall under the catagory of 'slime molds' thankyou

ha,julieEdwards, actually you are half right, this is maybe actually no longer "mushroom" or even "fungi". Given: when this is a "slime mold" , and just said [we dont know any specific direction yet,{this is also relativ new for me}] , this would be "Amoebozoa/Dictyostelid" ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slime_molds... ), then it would be some kind slime mold-> amoebe-kind ; no animal/plant or fungi BUT a special super-kingdom.
take a look at the "video-youtube-link from "monkey-mind&nana-puppet"- at my spotting ( http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/762... ) it's going about "slime molds" and "amoebozoas" (it is sadly for some, in german language ). but even the pictures alone are still entertaining. You can search for some other language-spoken documentations or a subtitle. But i sadly know no other links,at you tube are several nice small video but i didn't found much, (not german) slime-mold-docus.(Let me know, when you:found some ?!). for this spotting, when you like, you can take a look at this google-image link ( http://www.google.nl/search?hl=nl&su... ) about slime molds, some white, maybe similair!!

thankyou Alex the Mushroom King! I was half expecting someone to tell me it was not a fungi but some kind of insect larvae!

this schould be a slime mold, ( "Slime mold or mould" is a broad term describing protists that use spores to reproduce. Slime molds were formerly classified as "fungi (myxomycetes)" , but are no longer considered part of this kingdom, The group formerly known as "Myxomycota", now known not to be fungal, is now usually classified under "Myxogastria" ). the whole myxomycota/myxogastria group is somewhat new stuff for me, i just recently began to understand the extent of this "fungi/no longer fungi"- area

( http://www.google.nl/search?hl=nl&sa... ) it reminds me at the grow-structure of "stemonits fusca", but this one should it not be. here more slime mold pictures ( http://www.google.nl/search?tbm=isch&... ).
and here maybe a good direction: (maybe you recognize one picture and get lucky with the latin name under it, then you can research with a start) ( http://www.google.nl/search?tbm=isch&... ) good luck !!!
