Lion's Ear

Leonotis leonurus

Description:

I had to use my own shadow to get this picture, the sun was too bright otherwise. It flowers out from the center, can get to be a big bush, but I do not have the scientific name and the common name may not be right.

Habitat:

Seems to like full sun and it is blooming now in November, so it may be a late bloomer. Found it at the Cooperative Extension Building.

native to southern Africa, also called 'Wild Dagga' locally; Dagga being a South African name for marijuana. The Leonotis leaves may be mildly narcotic but the 2 plants are not related.

Well you got the name before I even got a chance to look at it...That was the plant I had in mind, but as you can see it's not native to Florida...that's what threw me.
