Hyles gallii caterpillar

Hyles gallii

Description:

A black caterpillar with red head and tail and yellow spots along its sides. I never saw one like this in person. If my ID is correct, it grows into a Bedstraw hawkmoth.

Notes:

It was crawling across a walking path where I work. The area is open fields with ponds.
