Tropidolophus formosus
Large, at least 4 cm. Crest is distinctive. Males (depicted here) are fully-winged, females with wings reaching at most halfway down the length of the abdomen. Hind wings of male vermillion (red) with faint dark band near wing margin.
Shortgrass prairie with grasses, sunflower, yucca, prickly-pear cacti, Russian Thistle, and other plants. Soil sandy with rocks.
