Long-tailed ducks

Clangula hyemalis

These long-tailed ducks were between Chebeague and Littlejohns Island. These diving ducks breed in Tundra ponds and arrive around Chebeague in the Fall and spend the winters around the island. The plumage on the male changes dramatically from winter to summer.
