Alcohol Inky Cap

Coprinopsis atramentaria

Description:

Grey brown bullet shaped cap, growing in tight clusters there the stipe can hardly be seen until the gills start to liquify and then the stipes can be seen with no caps attached.

Habitat:

Several masses of caps growing on a mossy lawn in a shady area of our property. Pacific northwest temperate rainforest.

Notes:

Supposedly a good edible but do NOT eat it with alcohol or even within 48 hours of drinking alcohol. Contains coprine which when combined with alcohol causes a variety of unpleasant symptoms.
