Green horned caterpillar

Melanitis leda-ismene

It is leaf feeding or leaf damaging insect of rice. Caterpillar of that insect damage the leaf by chewing action. But the adult don't show any significant damage rather it helps in pollination. The photograph is taken in on flower during its visiting which seems to be very beautiful

The adult mostly visit during sunny day. The caterpillar remains in the rice field.

The caterpillar has horn with green colour so it is called as green horned caterpillar. Also the damaging nature of caterpillar named it as green horned caterpillar
