Dicaeum hirundinaceum
This is a male! This gorgeous little guy has a bright, red chin, throat and breast. Down the centre of his body is a bold, black stripe with white on either side. His head is black which extends down over his back.
Flying around in scrub land behind some sand dunes at Cable Beach.

@ Steano. Thank you. I don't know what la meraviglia means but...you're welcome :)
Oh wow...that's really interesting, I didn't know any of that Charlie. I just did some googling about it - and how 'bout that! :D I also didn't know they weren't in Tasmania...Thank you for the appreciation, it's a pleasure sharing :)
Beautiful ...la meraviglia.
Excellent. I've never heard of these. Good looker too. Thanks.
The only Australian representative of the flowerpecker family..i used to know them as Flowerpecker birds , when i lived on the mainland ...yet another we don't get down here in Tasmania :( Thanks for the spotting , its amazing all the things you forget after 10yrs being away from Sydney.
Thank you Vinny. I'm glad you like it :)
Nice photo, hard to get these guys to sit still long enough for a picture
