I have eaten them. They are quite good, but you have to find them with nice new growth, and this one looks rather old. And then you only take the very outside edge of the new growth. And I agree, never eat one until you have a positive ID, preferably from someone who does collect them and eat them, or sells commercially. I've heard that on Eucalyptus(which this appears to be on) that you don't want to eat them as they absorb toxins from the tree

Chicken of the woods. (http://mushroom-collecting.com/mushroomc...) I haven't tried them yet but I hear they're really good. Also easy to identify but as with any mushroom, don't take my word for it, make sure for yourself before you try it.
